Wilmington Man Arrested on Drug and Firearm Allegations

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested a 22-year-old man on multiple drug and firearm-related charges following an operation conducted on June 25, 2025.

At approximately 2:19 p.m., members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division observed suspected drug activity in the 1700 block of Locust Street. Officers made contact with Shannon Johnson, who was taken into custody without incident.

During the subsequent investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, 18.8 grams of crack cocaine, 3.15 grams of heroin, $775 in cash, and drug paraphernalia.

Johnson has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 2 Quantity (Two Counts)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $113,500 cash-only bail.

Authorities emphasize that Johnson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. Further updates may be provided as the investigation continues.
