WILMINGTON, DE — A man and a woman from Wilmington have been arrested following an undercover investigation into suspected drug activity in the city’s West Side, authorities announced this week.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, the arrests stem from a month-long probe conducted by the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division targeting suspected narcotics distribution in the 1700 block of West 3rd Street. On the morning of July 31, at approximately 8:48 a.m., investigators—with support from the Safe Streets Task Force—detained 29-year-old Donnell Gill and 29-year-old Jalone Nichols in the 800 block of West 6th Street.
Police reported that both individuals were taken into custody without incident. A search during the operation allegedly yielded a loaded .38-caliber revolver, over 100 grams of crack cocaine, additional ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and more than $3,400 in cash.
Gill faces multiple felony charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in a Tier 3 quantity, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, and two additional counts of possession with intent to deliver. He is also charged with three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, conspiracy in the second degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gill was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $304,400 cash-only bail.
Nichols has been charged with possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, conspiracy in the second degree, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $5,350 cash-only bail.
The case remains under investigation. Authorities have not disclosed whether additional suspects are being sought or if further charges are pending.
As with all criminal proceedings, both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
