SPRING CITY, PA — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect connected to an alleged motor vehicle theft that occurred in the early morning hours of September 14, 2025. According to the Spring City Police Department, at approximately 2:20 a.m., an individual broke the window of a parked vehicle and stole it from a lot near Airy Street and South Church Street.
Investigators report that this case is part of a pattern of thefts in the area targeting Hyundai and Kia models manufactured before 2023. Police say thieves have been exploiting known security flaws in these vehicles.
The department is urging residents to take preventative measures, including obtaining a free software fix from dealerships, parking in well-lit areas, using steering wheel locks such as “The Club,” and ensuring vehicles are always locked with keys removed.
Authorities have released an image of the suspect and are requesting assistance from the public. They stress that anyone suspected, arrested, or charged in connection with this or other incidents is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect or related vehicle thefts is asked to contact the Spring City Police Department at 610-948-3456 or submit a tip online.
