KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A routine traffic stop in Kennett Square escalated into a high-speed pursuit last month, ultimately ending in the arrest of a 29-year-old West Grove man, according to police.
The Kennett Square Police Department reported that on August 9, 2025, at approximately 2:17 a.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle on West State Street for an inoperable brake light. Instead of pulling over, the driver allegedly accelerated rapidly and continued onto West Baltimore Pike, reaching speeds of more than 97 miles per hour.
The chase drew in multiple law enforcement agencies as the vehicle traveled through the area. Officers said the pursuit ended when Pennsylvania State Police Avondale successfully intervened and apprehended the driver.
The suspect was identified as Miguel Martinez-Ramirez, 29, of West Grove, Pennsylvania. Police said he was taken into custody without further incident.
Martinez-Ramirez faces several charges, including:
- Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police
- Reckless Driving
- Careless Driving
- Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed
- Traffic Control Signals
A criminal complaint was filed in District Court 15-3-04, outlining the charges.
Law enforcement officials reminded the public that all criminal charges are allegations only. Martinez-Ramirez, like any defendant, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
