WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police responded to 34 separate incidents Monday, February 9, ranging from a felony warrant arrest and a reported vehicle theft to multiple hit-and-run crashes, domestic disputes, and traffic enforcement actions, according to the department’s daily incident listing.
The day began shortly after 1:00 a.m. with a traffic stop on Park Road North near Court Lane, where an officer issued a warning to a driver for allegedly disregarding posted signs.
At approximately 6:25 a.m., officers responded to a reported hit-and-run crash at Route 222 and Penn Avenue. Police reported no injuries and no vehicles required towing. According to the report, one vehicle allegedly fled the scene after the complainant stated police had been called.
A separate burglar alarm activation on Bern Road at 6:32 a.m. was determined to be unfounded after officers found the door secure and nothing suspicious.
Shortly after 8:00 a.m., police located a person wanted on felony charges originating from Wyomissing. The individual was found on 13th Street in Reading and taken to the Central Processing Center for immediate handling.
Police also handled multiple non-reportable crashes throughout the morning, including a two-vehicle rear-end collision on State Hill Road at 8:32 a.m. No injuries or tows were reported, and drivers exchanged information. Another accident on Woodland Road was canceled after parties exchanged information prior to officer arrival.
At 10:33 a.m., officers responded to an automatic fire alarm on Ridgewood Road. The fire department determined that sprinkler pipes had burst. A similar alarm later on Reed Avenue near Spring Street was also attributed to a burst sprinkler pipe.
A fraud investigation was initiated at 10:53 a.m. on Berkshire Boulevard. Police reported that an investigation is ongoing.
Traffic enforcement continued throughout the day. A driver on State Hill Road near Spring Street was warned for allegedly changing lanes without using a turn signal. Later stops on Penn Avenue resulted in both warnings and citations, including a citation issued after a driver allegedly changed lanes abruptly while traveling straight in a left-turn lane against oncoming traffic, causing another vehicle to swerve.
At 12:39 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop on Wellington Avenue near Cambridge Avenue at the request of county detectives. The operator was found to be wanted and was taken into custody.
Police also responded to a duress alarm activation on Reed Avenue at 1:40 p.m., which was determined to be accidental. A 911 hang-up call on Berkshire Boulevard was similarly cleared after officers found no emergency.
At 2:23 p.m., officers responded to Berkshire Boulevard for a reported hit-and-run crash. Police noted there was no damage to report, and the vehicle owner requested documentation only. No further action was taken.
At 3:18 p.m., police received a report of a stolen cargo van from Crossing Drive. The vehicle was entered into official records, and the investigation remains active.
Later in the evening, officers responded to a harassment report on Spring Street at 6:37 p.m., documenting information between two individuals. At 8:01 p.m., officers handled a domestic dispute on State Hill Road. Both parties reportedly stated the incident was verbal only and did not involve physical contact.
At 8:32 p.m. and again at 11:27 p.m., officers conducted traffic stops that resulted in the recovery of Act 64-related narcotics during vehicle code violation investigations. Follow-up actions were initiated.
Police also assisted other agencies, including aiding Sinking Spring Police with translation services and assisting Spring Township Police with a reported physical domestic incident on Van Reed Road, which Spring Township handled.
The department logged a total of 34 incidents for the day.
All criminal allegations and traffic violations referenced in the report remain allegations. Any suspect, arrestee, or cited individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
