Voicemail Leads Police to Chilling Knife Threat Allegations in Kennett Square

Arrested

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A voicemail left on an unmonitored police administration line set in motion an investigation that led to the arrest of a Glenmoore man now facing a wide range of serious charges stemming from alleged threats and intimidation against a former partner.

According to the Kennett Square Police Department, a voicemail was received on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at approximately 1:43 p.m., reporting that a woman in the 200 block of South Mill Road was allegedly being threatened with a knife by her ex-boyfriend. The caller requested that police check on the woman’s welfare.

Police said the voicemail was not reviewed until the following morning, December 22, at which point officers responded to the address at approximately 8:48 a.m. to conduct a well-being check. As officers investigated further, authorities allege they learned that the suspect, identified as 51-year-old Richard Morinelli of Glenmoore, had threatened the female victim with a steak knife, sent multiple threatening text messages, and followed her to a casino the night before.
