Victim Scarred for Life: Hunt for Suspects in Philly Chemical Attack

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities in Philadelphia are investigating an aggravated assault that left a woman with severe burns after a chemical was thrown on her in West Philadelphia on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The Philadelphia Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying three juvenile males believed to have information about the incident.

According to police, the assault occurred around 1:30 p.m. on the unit block of South 51st Street. The victim was walking when she was reportedly doused with a chemical substance, causing serious injuries to her face and body. She was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Following the assault, police say three juveniles boarded the El at 52nd Street and exited at 60th Street. Although video footage from the area, including SEPTA surveillance, did not capture the attack itself, investigators have obtained images of the three juveniles they would like to question.

The police emphasize that any suspects or individuals of interest are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
