CLAYMONT, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred Tuesday afternoon at a McDonald’s restaurant in Claymont, involving two suspects who allegedly targeted a victim during an arranged sale.
On July 8, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., troopers were dispatched to the McDonald’s located at 2702 Philadelphia Pike following reports of a robbery. According to initial findings, the victim had met two unidentified males at the restaurant to finalize the sale of an item listed online.
Before the transaction could be completed, one suspect reportedly grabbed the bag containing the item. A struggle followed, during which one of the suspects allegedly reached toward his waistband, implying possession of a firearm. Fearing for his safety, the victim released the bag, and both suspects fled on foot toward Philadelphia Pike, taking the victim’s property with them.
The suspects are described as Black males. At this time, surveillance images and video footage have not been made available.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit is leading the investigation. Detectives are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Detective J. Dempsey at (302) 365-8472. Tips may also be provided anonymously to Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
All criminal acts described remain allegations, and any suspects identified are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
