WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested a 23-year-old man on drug-related charges after a vehicle pursuit on May 13, 2025.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., officers from the Uniformed Services Division attempted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of North Walnut Street. The driver, identified as Amir McCants, fled the scene. Police located the vehicle shortly after near East 30th Street and Northeast Boulevard and took McCants into custody without further incident.
During the arrest, officers recovered 181 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. McCants faces several charges, including possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia, and disregarding a police officer’s signal.
McCants was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was released after posting $5,000 secured bail.
Authorities remind the public that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
