Unlocked Cars Targeted as Warrant Issued in Theft Spree

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Police have issued an arrest warrant for a Luzerne County man accused of stealing items from multiple unlocked vehicles and using stolen credit cards, authorities said.

According to Kennett Square Police, officers received three reports on January 23 of items missing from unlocked vehicles in the area of Irwin Street and Roney Street.

One victim told police their credit cards were subsequently used at multiple locations, including convenience stores and through Lyft, according to investigators.

Police said that through further investigation, including review of surveillance footage and a search warrant served to Lyft, officers identified 46-year-old Christopher Hutchison of Hazle Township as the suspect based on account information.

Authorities said District Court 15-3-04 issued an arrest warrant for Hutchison on Monday, March 24. The warrant remains active.

Hutchison is charged with multiple offenses, including five counts of access device fraud, 15 counts of theft by unlawful taking, 15 counts of receiving stolen property, 15 counts of theft from a motor vehicle, and five counts of possessing instruments of crime, according to police.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
