WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police handled 17 incidents Thursday, including a reported hit-and-run later determined to be unfounded, multiple crashes, two mental health-related calls involving EMS, and a late-night disabled vehicle tow, according to the department’s February 19 blotter.
Police said officers were dispatched at 9:55 a.m. to Crossing Drive for a reported hit-and-run crash. After reviewing video footage, police determined the other vehicle was not involved and the report was unfounded, according to the blotter.
A separate two-vehicle crash was reported at 10:27 a.m. at Paper Mill Road and Berkshire Boulevard. Police reported no injuries and said the drivers exchanged information.
Police also took a report at 12:19 p.m. for a disorderly person in a parking lot on State Hill Road, but the individual was gone when officers arrived, the blotter states.
At 8:26 a.m., officers responded to Delaware Avenue for a “class 4” mental health-related call. Police reported that the individual agreed to go to a hospital with Western Berks EMS.
Later, at 9:48 p.m., police responded to Penn Avenue for a male requesting EMS. The report states EMS handled the incident and the individual was transported to a hospital.
Traffic stops throughout the day resulted in warnings and a citation, according to police. At 2:39 p.m., an officer issued a warning at Penn Avenue and Park Road North for a Vehicle Code violation involving duties at a solid red traffic signal, the blotter states.
At 3:17 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Woodland Road for window tint and issued a warning, according to the report.
Police reported additional traffic stops in the evening for vehicles allegedly being driven at night without headlights, including one at 7:11 p.m. on North Wyomissing Boulevard at Park Road North and another at 7:28 p.m. at Penn Avenue and State Hill Road. In the latter stop, police said the operator showed mild signs of impairment and a family member was called to transport the driver home safely.
At 8:26 p.m., police cited a driver at Penn Avenue and Reading Avenue after the vehicle allegedly turned right on red without stopping for a vehicle proceeding straight through a green light and was being driven at night in rain without headlights activated, according to the blotter.
Police also reported a traffic stop at 11:31 p.m. near Route 422 and North Wyomissing Boulevard for faulty equipment, with the driver receiving a warning.
A possible threat was reported at 4:35 p.m. at Wyomissing Boulevard and Reading Boulevard. Police said the complainant could not confirm the situation after officers responded.
Police said they responded at 12:29 a.m. to Lawndale Road for repossessed vehicle information and noted the owner was aware.
At 1:19 a.m., police responded to Park Road North for an excessive noise complaint but reported they were unable to locate the source.
At 8:49 p.m., police responded to Ninth Street and Douglass Street for a disabled vehicle. The report states the driver was OK and the vehicle was towed.
At 8:54 p.m., police responded to Evans Avenue for an unusual odor. The incident was handled by the Wyomissing Fire Department, according to the blotter.
Police also responded at 7:38 p.m. to Tulpehocken Road for a report of a confused woman, but staff said no assistance was needed, the report states.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
