Two New Castle Men Arrested Following Shooting Investigation

NEW CASTLE, DE — Police have charged two men in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on September 24, 2025, in New Castle.

Authorities reported that at approximately 12:29 p.m., patrol officers responded to the unit block of Cahalan Road after receiving multiple calls of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered several vehicles struck by gunfire while bystanders were present in the area. No injuries were reported.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit, Major Crimes Squad, and Evidence Detection Squad assumed the investigation. Through their inquiries, investigators identified 22-year-old Ian Berbick of New Castle as a suspect. On September 26, with the assistance of the Special Investigations Unit and SWAT, Berbick was taken into custody.

During the execution of a related search warrant, detectives reported locating evidence that led to firearm charges against 21-year-old Ryan Berbick of New Castle. Both men were transported to New Castle County Police headquarters.

According to police, Ian Berbick has been charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, assault in the second degree, five counts of reckless endangering in the first degree, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and receiving a stolen firearm. Following arraignment, he was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $123,000 cash bail.

Ryan Berbick was charged with three counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and receiving a stolen firearm. He was also arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $12,000 cash bail.

All charges are allegations, and a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
