PHILADELPHIA, PA — Two foreign nationals were sentenced this month to federal prison terms for illegally reentering the United States after prior deportations, U.S. Attorney David Metcalf announced.

Jorge Adalberto Dejesus Rondon, also known as Jorge Garcia, Henry Matos, and Edwin Carrillo, 38, a Dominican national, was sentenced to 40 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Gerald A. McHugh. Authorities said he will be removed from the United States again following his sentence.

According to prosecutors, Dejesus had previously been removed from the country three times: in February 2011 after a drug conviction in Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas; in June 2015 following a sentence for illegal reentry in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania; and in August 2019 after serving sentences for illegal reentry in the Southern District of Texas and for violating supervised release in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Law enforcement attempted to arrest Dejesus in April of last year, but he eluded capture, authorities said. Officers later located and arrested him in June at a residence in Philadelphia.

Prosecutors said Dejesus was charged by indictment in July and pleaded guilty in November.

In a separate case, Warlin DeJesus Arnaud-Salcedo, 41, also a Dominican national, was sentenced to 14 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Costello. He will also be removed from the United States following his sentence, according to authorities.

Arnaud-Salcedo had previously been removed from the United States in May 2016, prosecutors said.

According to investigators, ICE encountered Arnaud-Salcedo in May of last year on the 6100 block of Hegerman Street in Philadelphia while searching for other individuals. He initially provided identification and was permitted to leave, but agents later determined he had reentered the country illegally and took him into custody the following day.

Prosecutors said Arnaud-Salcedo was charged by indictment in June and pleaded guilty in October.

The cases were investigated by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mark Dubnoff and Mark Sendek.
