NEW CASTLE, DE — Two men are facing felony charges following an investigation by the New Castle County Division of Police Violent Crime Interdiction Team into alleged drug distribution and firearm offenses.
Detectives reported that the investigation began in August 2025 and identified 36-year-old Dane Jones of New Castle and 31-year-old Jaheel Parker of Wilmington as suspects. On August 25, officers observed both men in the 3000 block of New Castle Avenue. When detectives attempted to make contact, police said the men fled.
Jones was apprehended a short distance away, while Parker allegedly discarded a black satchel containing a 9mm Ruger handgun with its serial number removed before escaping the scene. A search warrant executed on a vehicle Parker had exited prior to fleeing uncovered 32.58 grams of suspected crack cocaine, packaging materials, a digital scale, and documents belonging to him, according to investigators.
Jones was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, Tier 3 possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number, conspiracy in the second degree, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Following arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 2, he was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $100,000 cash bail.
On September 30, detectives located Parker in the 1600 block of North DuPont Highway. He was taken into custody without incident and found to have 3.2 grams of suspected crack cocaine in his possession. Parker was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, Tier 3 possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number, conspiracy in the second degree, resisting arrest, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $50,000 cash bail.
All charges are allegations, and a suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
