NEW CASTLE, DE — Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police High Risk Officers Team, working in partnership with the ATF Wilmington Field Office, have charged two men following an investigation into alleged straw purchases of firearms and related criminal activity.
According to authorities, the investigation began in August 2025 after detectives developed information regarding suspected straw purchases — cases in which a firearm is bought on behalf of another individual who is unable or prohibited from purchasing one.
Investigators identified Noah Williams, 21, of Elkton, Maryland, as a suspect. Police say Williams purchased multiple firearms and ammunition, some of which are believed to be connected to criminal activity in New Castle County. Detectives also identified Marco Mirkovic, 18, of Newark, Delaware, as being involved.
On Thursday, August 14, 2025, detectives conducted a traffic stop on Mirkovic. Police say he was found in possession of 23 grams of crack cocaine. During the course of the investigation, two firearms purchased by Williams were recovered from Mirkovic’s residence.
Williams has been charged with three felony counts of making false statements in the purchase of a firearm and one felony count of engaging in a firearms transaction on behalf of another. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released after posting $5,000 unsecured bail.
Mirkovic has been charged with possession of controlled substances, Tier 2 (felony), noncompliance with conditions of recognizance bond (felony), and operation of an unregistered motor vehicle (traffic violation). He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released after posting $9,554 secured bail.
Authorities emphasize that all charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
