WILMINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested one man and obtained an arrest warrant for another in connection with an alleged organized retail theft at a Target store in Wilmington last month.
According to investigators, on October 2, 2025, detectives were alerted to a high-value theft that occurred on September 28 at the Target located at 1050 Brandywine Parkway. Police said the investigation determined that around 9:00 a.m., a man loaded a shopping cart with more than $900 worth of clothing and electronics, then exited the store without paying. The suspect allegedly met an accomplice waiting outside, and the two loaded the stolen merchandise into a vehicle before leaving the scene.
Authorities said the same man returned to the store minutes later, filled another cart with over $900 in merchandise, and was confronted by Target Asset Protection. He then abandoned the cart and fled with the accomplice.
Detectives later identified 34-year-old Brendan Davis of Rehoboth Beach as the suspect who allegedly loaded the carts, and 25-year-old Daylast Deshields of Wilmington as the accomplice.
Deshields was arrested on October 7, 2025, and charged with theft–organized retail crime over $1,500 and second-degree conspiracy, both felonies. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
Davis is currently in custody at a correctional facility in West Chester, Pennsylvania, awaiting extradition to Delaware. Upon his return, he will face the same felony charges.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
