WILMINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested two men following an early morning investigation that led officers to a stolen vehicle traced from New Jersey to a Wilmington neighborhood.
Authorities said that at approximately 5:00 a.m. on October 20, 2025, troopers were alerted to a stolen Dodge Charger that was being electronically tracked to the 1600 block of Bonwood Road in Wilmington. The vehicle had previously been reported stolen to the Maple Shade Police Department in New Jersey.
According to investigators, 20-year-old Meshech Morris of Wilmington and 20-year-old Marquist Charpentier of Lanham, Maryland, allegedly drove to a car dealership in an Infiniti Q50, stole the Dodge Charger, and fled in both vehicles. When troopers arrived at the Wilmington address, they spotted the Infiniti leaving the area near a parked car concealed beneath a cover. Officers conducted a stop and took both men into custody without incident.
A subsequent search of the Infiniti reportedly revealed a device used to program universal key fobs and a reprogrammed key fob. When troopers tested the fob, the headlights of the covered vehicle illuminated, confirming it was the stolen Dodge Charger.
Morris was charged with felony counts of possession of burglar tools, receiving stolen property over $1,500, and conspiracy in the second degree. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $9,000 secured bond.
Charpentier was charged with the same felony offenses and was also committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $7,000 secured bond following arraignment.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
