WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have taken two male juveniles into custody, one of whom was allegedly carrying a loaded firearm at the time of his arrest, authorities confirmed.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers assigned to the Uniformed Services Division were patrolling the 100 block of West 23rd Street at approximately 1:24 p.m. on July 18, 2025, when they observed two individuals known to be the subjects of active warrants. Officers made contact and safely apprehended a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, both male.
During the arrest, the 17-year-old was allegedly found in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun. Following his arrest, he was additionally charged with:
- Two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $9,000 secured bail. Details about the outstanding warrants were not disclosed, and no additional charges were filed against the 15-year-old as of this report.
The Wilmington Police Department has not released the identities of the juveniles due to their age. No injuries were reported during the arrest.
