Two Days of Crime, Crashes, and Chaos Rock Wyomissing Streets

Police News

WYOMISSING, PA — A wide range of alleged criminal, safety, and emergency incidents kept Wyomissing Police busy across January 6 and January 7, 2026, as officers responded to reports ranging from stolen vehicles and assaults to fraud, suspicious activity, and multiple traffic collisions, according to department blotter records.

Police began the two-day period shortly after midnight on January 6 with a reported stolen vehicle on Park Road North, which was later located in neighboring West Reading by West Reading Police that night, authorities said.

Later that morning, officers were dispatched to Museum Road for two separate incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis, one of which resulted in the individual being transported to a hospital and the other involving a subject being returned to a nursing facility.

Traffic-related incidents dominated much of the afternoon and evening on January 6. A reportable crash at Wayne Avenue and Park Road South resulted in two vehicles being towed after one allegedly struck another and a stop sign. Police also investigated a hit-and-run on Bern Road involving damage to a vehicle’s front bumper.

Investigators also documented a report of alleged threats on Cleveland Avenue after a verbal altercation, a suspicious inquiry on a credit report on Pinewood Road, and a walk-in report of a stolen credit card and headphones valued at more than $650 from a residence on Wyomissing Court.

January 7 opened with multiple early-morning incidents, including a traffic stop on Route 222 that resulted in a citation for speeding and an unsafe lane change and a 911 hang-up call from Van Reed Road that was determined not to be an emergency.

Later in the day, police were dispatched to Spring Street for a death investigation, where a coroner was called and information was gathered, though no further public details were provided.

Retail thefts were reported on State Hill Road and Berkshire Boulevard, including one alleged theft involving a cologne tester and another involving property valued at $175.

Police also investigated a reported assault on State Hill Road, a fraud complaint involving washed checks on Woodland Road, and a trespassing complaint involving a guest who failed to check out on time but left without incident.

Several motor vehicle crashes were also logged on January 7, including a reportable accident on Fourth Street where one vehicle was towed, a hit-and-run reported on Route 422, and another two-vehicle accident that was ultimately unfounded when officers could not locate the vehicles.

Police also fielded multiple calls about individuals allegedly posing as electric company employees on Cambridge Avenue, along with reports of a suspicious juvenile selling items on Penn Avenue and a disorderly conduct call involving a woman who refused to leave a location but departed without incident.

By the end of January 7, officers had handled 19 separate incidents for the day, following 17 incidents the previous day, reflecting a steady stream of calls for service across the borough.

Authorities emphasized that all crimes referenced in the blotter are allegations only and that any individuals identified or connected to these incidents are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
