Two Berks County Residents Charged in Alleged $252,000 Theft From Morgan Truck Body

Arrest

MORGANTOWN, PA — Two Berks County residents have been charged in connection with the alleged theft of five diesel-powered cooling units, valued at a combined total of $252,000, from Morgan Truck Body in Caernarvon Township last month.

According to investigators, the incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. on Friday, August 19, when a Penske box truck entered the company’s yard without stopping at the required check-in point. Security footage reviewed by company officials and police shows a Morgan employee, later identified as Thomas J. Kaiser, operating a forklift to load the truck with the cooling units.

Company supervisors told police that the procedure was highly irregular, noting that drivers are typically required to present paperwork before being directed to a loading dock. The video allegedly showed Kaiser hurriedly loading the units without standard protocol, then leaving work hours early. Days later, he submitted his resignation electronically and did not return to the facility.

Caernarvon Township Detective Sgt. Chad Eberly filed charges after confirming the equipment was missing. On September 18, 2025, Kaiser, 37, of Reiffton, and the truck’s driver, identified as 30-year-old Kendra Lliteras of Reading, were arrested and charged with felony counts of conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking. Both defendants were arraigned that day and released to await preliminary hearings.

As of the filing, police reported the stolen equipment had not been recovered.

All charges are allegations. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
