Trusted Adult Betrays Child in Horrific Abuse Case, Faces 35 Years in Prison

Court News

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A Pennsylvania woman was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to facilitating and participating in the sexual abuse of a minor and the production of child pornography. Tina Marie Farley, 49, of Conshohocken, was sentenced on Tuesday, May 13, by U.S. District Court Judge Joshua D. Wolson to 420 months in prison, 10 years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution for her crimes against a child.

Farley was indicted in December 2023 and pleaded guilty in January to charges that revealed a disturbing pattern of abuse spanning 18 months. According to court records and admissions made by Farley, the crimes began in October 2017 and continued until mid-2019. During this period, Farley facilitated the sexual abuse of a minor, referred to as Minor 1, who was 12 to 13 years old at the time.

Farley’s involvement in the crimes included permitting and photographing the abuse committed by her boyfriend. She also engaged in sexual contact with the victim and, at times, participated in the abuse while recording or photographing it. These actions, prosecutors emphasized, constituted a profound betrayal of the victim, who had placed trust in Farley.

“This defendant badly betrayed a child who trusted her, and now must be held to account for that exploitation,” said U.S. Attorney David Metcalf. “Those who sexually abuse children cause lasting harm, an emotional toll that’s unfathomable. My office and the FBI are working aggressively every day to find and prosecute child predators, to keep them from hurting more innocent victims.”

Gabriel Poling, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Philadelphia office, similarly stressed the severity of the crimes and the agency’s commitment to child protection. “The exploitation of children is one of the most egregious crimes the FBI investigates,” Poling said. “Today’s sentencing underscores the FBI and our partners’ commitment to safeguarding children and ensuring that those who harm them will be brought to justice.”

The case demonstrates a coordinated effort among federal and local law enforcement agencies. The FBI led the investigation, working closely with the Conshohocken Police Department and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Meghan Claiborne and Kelly Harrell prosecuted the case on behalf of the Department of Justice.
