TRAINER, PA — Police arrested a man Monday after a traffic stop in Trainer Borough led to alleged fraudulent vehicle registration and insurance violations.
Trainer Borough police reported an officer conducted a traffic stop at approximately 12:51 p.m. on March 9 in the 4300 block of West 9th Street after observing a 2013 Ford Mustang displaying what appeared to be a fraudulent Pennsylvania temporary registration.
According to investigators, the driver was identified as 33-year-old Robert Johenkins.
Police said officers determined the temporary registration displayed on the vehicle was not a valid PennDOT-issued registration.
Authorities also reported that Johenkins allegedly provided officers with a fraudulent insurance card for Progressive Insurance. According to police, officers contacted the insurance company and were advised the policy number had expired in 2018 and did not correspond to Johenkins or the vehicle’s VIN.
Police said Johenkins was taken into custody following the investigation.
Authorities reported that Johenkins was arraigned later that day before Magisterial District Judge Shepherd Garner, who set bail at 10 percent of $30,000. Police said Johenkins was subsequently committed to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility.
According to investigators, Johenkins has been charged with forged or counterfeit documents and plates, required financial responsibility, and registration and certificate of title violations.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
