Traffic Stop Turns Serious: Wilmington Woman Charged with Gun and Drug Offenses

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington woman is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop that led to the alleged discovery of a firearm and controlled substances, according to local law enforcement.

On the evening of November 26, at approximately 7:05 p.m., officers from the Wilmington Police Department’s Uniformed Services Division observed a traffic violation in the 900 block of West 8th Street. Police conducted a vehicle stop and made contact with the driver, identified as 31-year-old Tysheeka Johnson.

A subsequent investigation reportedly resulted in Johnson’s arrest. Authorities stated that a loaded 9mm handgun and approximately 0.5 grams of crack cocaine were recovered during the incident. Johnson was taken into custody without incident.

She now faces multiple charges, including:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity

Johnson was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and has been released on $29,100 unsecured bail.
