Traffic Stop Leads to Gun Charge Arrest in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man was arrested on a gun charge following a vehicle stop last month, according to police.

Wilmington police reported that officers with the Uniformed Services Division conducted a traffic stop at approximately 12:15 p.m. on February 27 in the area of Chestnut Street and South Adams Street after observing a traffic violation.

According to investigators, officers made contact with 22-year-old Geremy Hampton and took him into custody without incident.

Police said officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun during the stop.

Authorities reported that Hampton has been charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, in addition to traffic-related citations.

Police said Hampton was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and released after bail was set at $5,000 unsecured.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
