Traffic Stop Leads to Gun Allegations After Officers Recover Loaded Handgun

WILMINGTON, DE — A routine vehicle stop Tuesday night resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old man after Wilmington Police reported finding a loaded handgun during the encounter.

According to the department, officers from the Uniformed Services Division conducted the stop at approximately 9:28 p.m. on December 2 in the 700 block of West 8th Street due to a vehicle violation. Police say they made contact with the driver, identified as Nahsir Doss, and recovered a loaded 9mm handgun during the investigation. Doss was taken into custody without incident.

Doss has been charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited and carrying a concealed deadly weapon, in addition to receiving a traffic citation. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.

All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
