PHILADELPHIA, PA — Federal authorities have charged three Philadelphia residents in connection with the armed robbery of a Brink’s armored car in June that netted more than $2 million.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Daishaun “Daisha” Hughes-Murchison, 30, Brian Wallace, 31, and Trayvine Jackson, 31, were arrested and charged by criminal complaint with Hobbs Act robbery and using a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime. The defendants made their initial court appearances last week. Jackson has been ordered detained, while detention hearings for Wallace and Hughes-Murchison are scheduled for this week.
Court filings allege that on the morning of June 21, 2025, a Brink’s driver was making a scheduled stop at a Home Depot in the 2500 block of Castor Avenue. As he walked down the store’s rear alley, two men armed with AR-style rifles approached from behind, forced him to the ground, took his company-issued firearm, and seized his keys. One suspect stayed with the driver, while the other entered the armored truck and removed a large quantity of cash.
Investigators say the men fled in a black Hyundai Sonata with a Virginia temporary tag, followed by a silver Ford Fusion with Pennsylvania plates. Authorities allege that the Fusion was registered to Hughes-Murchison and the Sonata had been rented by Wallace, who returned it hours later. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Wallace leaving the rental car and entering Hughes-Murchison’s Fusion. Cell phone records are said to place Wallace and Jackson near the rental location afterward, and Wallace’s and Hughes-Murchison’s phones in the area of the Home Depot during the robbery.
Prosecutors also note that Jackson had previously worked for Brink’s before being suspended and terminated following an internal investigation.
The case is being investigated by the FBI Philadelphia Violent Crimes Task Force and the Philadelphia Police Department, with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda R. Reinitz.
The charges in this case are allegations only, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
