Three Charged in Alleged $60,000 Organized Retail Theft Ring Across Central Pennsylvania

Arrested

HARRISBURG, PA — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced this week that three individuals have been charged in connection with what investigators describe as an organized retail theft operation spanning four central Pennsylvania counties and causing approximately $60,000 in losses.

Julia Robinson and Demetrius Patterson were arrested Tuesday and charged with felony counts of corrupt organizations, organized retail theft, and related offenses. A third suspect, who has been identified by law enforcement, remains at large. Robinson and Patterson are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on October 14.

According to investigators, the defendants were allegedly involved in at least 20 thefts from stores including T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and Home Goods across Dauphin, Cumberland, York, and Lancaster counties. Authorities say the crew rented multiple storage units under false identities to conceal stolen merchandise, which was later resold online for profit.

The investigation and arrests were supported by the Derry Township and Lower Swatara Township police departments.

“Stealing from retailers harms businesses and their employees, as well as consumers who will ultimately pay higher prices for goods as retailers cope with losses,” Attorney General Sunday said, commending the collaborative effort.

Derry Township Police Chief Garth Warner echoed that sentiment, emphasizing that the joint operation underscores the community’s commitment to public safety and economic well-being.

This case is being prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Kelsey Ashworth of the Organized Retail Crime Unit.
