WILMINGTON, DE — Five juveniles have been charged in connection with an alleged vehicle tampering incident reported on June 9, 2025, in the Lighthouse Hill Apartments community. Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 1200 block of Terra Hill Drive at approximately 12:38 p.m. after receiving reports of juveniles wearing gloves and masks reportedly looking into parked vehicles.
Upon arrival, officers observed one individual attempting to hide between vehicles. All five juveniles, aged 13, 14, 14, 15, and 16, were detained at the scene. Investigators recovered a screwdriver and USB cable near the area where one juvenile had been hiding, items commonly associated with vehicle break-ins. Surveillance footage obtained by officers also reportedly linked the individuals to the incident.
Each juvenile was charged with the following offenses:
- Felony count of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony
- Felony count of possession of burglar tools
- Felony count of conspiracy in the second degree
- Criminal trespass in the third degree
The three juveniles aged 14, 15, and 16 failed to post $11,050 secured bail and were transported to a local detention center. A fourth juvenile, aged 14, was also detained after failing to post $8,050 bail. The 13-year-old juvenile was released on $9,050 secured bail following arraignment.
All charges remain allegations, and the juveniles are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation is ongoing.
