Teen Suspect Caught After Tense Wilmington Armed Robbery Chase

WILMINGTON, DE — A 16-year-old male was taken into custody on June 2, 2025, following an alleged armed robbery in the area of West 5th and North Monroe Streets.

According to Wilmington Police, officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to the scene around 11:35 a.m. after receiving a report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, they spoke with the victim and obtained a description of the suspect. Shortly thereafter, officers spotted an individual matching the description near West 9th and North Jefferson Streets.

When police attempted to approach the suspect, he fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, the 16-year-old was apprehended without further incident. Authorities have charged him with first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and resisting arrest.

The juvenile suspect was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center with bail set at $101,000 cash-only.

The Wilmington Police Department reminds the public that all suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
