SUV Crashes Through Two Downingtown Businesses, Injuring Three

DOWNINGTOWN, PA — A mid-day vehicle crash in Downingtown Borough left three people injured Wednesday after an SUV barreled through the front of one business and continued into a neighboring establishment, according to local authorities.

At approximately 12:55 p.m. on July 30, 2025, officers from the Downingtown Police Department responded to reports of a vehicle collision with injuries at 142 Wallace Avenue, located along PA Route 282. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a blue Mercedes SUV, driven by an adult male, had entered one business through its storefront before crashing through an interior wall and coming to rest inside a second business.

Police said the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was extricated by bystanders prior to the arrival of emergency personnel. Downingtown Fire & EMS crews administered medical care on the scene. The driver declined medical transport.

Three adult female patrons inside the businesses sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. Two were taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, while the third declined medical transport.

The Chester County Rescue Task Force was also dispatched to assist emergency services on site. The two businesses affected by the crash will remain closed until structural repairs can be made. Other businesses within the building have reopened.

The identity of the driver is being withheld at this time. Police are treating the incident as an unintentional crash, and the investigation remains active. Authorities are asking any witnesses to contact the Downingtown Police Department via email at traffic@downingtown.org.

No charges have been filed, and all individuals involved are presumed innocent unless proven otherwise through due legal process.
