Surveillance Shows Suspect Trashing South Philly Catering Hall for Hours—Police Seek Public’s Help

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities in Philadelphia are investigating a burglary incident at a South Philadelphia catering facility in which a suspect allegedly spent several hours inside the property causing extensive damage, but took nothing before fleeing the scene.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the incident occurred at Swan Caterers, located at 2015 South Water Street. Surveillance footage reportedly shows the suspect entering the building through a side exterior storm door at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2025.

Once inside, the suspect is alleged to have methodically rummaged through various parts of the building, including the office, kitchen, and storage areas. Police say the individual remained inside for several hours, during which time significant property damage was inflicted throughout the facility. The suspect was observed leaving the premises around 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2025.

At this time, investigators state that no items appear to have been stolen during the course of the incident. The motive behind the prolonged break-in and destruction remains unclear.

Law enforcement officials are actively seeking assistance from the public to identify the individual captured on surveillance. Citizens are advised not to approach the suspect if seen and to contact 911 immediately.
