String of Local Incidents Prompts Questions After Busy Day for Wyomissing Police

WYOMISSING, PAWyomissing Police reported a full slate of incidents on Monday, December 8, detailing a range of calls that included alleged retail thefts, traffic stops, disabled vehicles, and a fire alarm investigation, according to a blotter released by the department .

The day began at 6:33 a.m. with a report of a possible phone fraud on Cambridge Avenue. Officers documented the complaint and initiated follow-up.

Throughout the morning and afternoon, police handled several traffic-related incidents. Multiple drivers received warnings for equipment violations, including window tint issues, non-functioning lights, and an illegible license plate. One operator was cited for speeding and lane-change violations during a stop on Route 222, while another received a citation for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign on Wyomissing Boulevard.

A fire alarm call on Hill Avenue was resolved quickly after responders learned the activation was caused by someone vaping in a bathroom. Later, commercial motor-vehicle inspections conducted on Ramp K off Route 222 resulted in no violations.

Officers also responded to a non-reportable vehicle accident on Margaret Drive in Reading. No injuries were reported, and drivers exchanged information. Two additional calls involved disabled vehicles, each resolved without further police action.

The department reported two alleged retail thefts occurring in the early afternoon. Police say playing cards valued at $165.00 were reportedly stolen from a business on Berkshire Boulevard, while a separate incident on State Hill Road involved clothing valued at $335.00. Both cases remain under follow-up investigation. All individuals connected to these allegations are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Other calls included an animal-related incident in which an injured deer had to be dispatched on Old Wyomissing Road.
