Street Encounter Leads to Arrest in Alleged Wilmington Drug Case

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested a 26-year-old man following an investigation that officers say uncovered suspected drug activity in the city’s East Side neighborhood.

According to authorities, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were in the area of East 9th and Kirkwood Streets on November 18 at approximately 12:16 p.m. when they observed a male individual allegedly involved in drug-related conduct. Officers made contact with the man, identified as Chaka Hollis, who was taken into custody without incident.

Police report that Hollis was found to be in possession of approximately 2.6 grams of crack cocaine and 0.78 grams of heroin. He has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Hollis was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $5,000 cash-only bail.

Authorities emphasize that all charges are allegations, and any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
