WOMELSDORF, PA — Police in Berks County have recovered a school district van that was reported stolen last month, but the individual allegedly responsible for taking the vehicle remains at large, authorities said.
According to the South Heidelberg Township Police Department, officers located the white Conrad Weiser Area School District Ford E-250 on the morning of January 8 at approximately 7:56 a.m. in Marion Township, bringing a key development in the investigation into the alleged vehicle theft that occurred on December 31.
The van had been reported stolen from the school district’s property along Conrad Weiser Parkway in Womelsdorf. Investigators said the vehicle was recovered, but the person believed to be responsible was not with it at the time and has not yet been identified.
Police have released an image of the individual they are seeking in connection with the case and are asking for the public’s help in identifying that person. Anyone who recognizes the individual is asked to contact the South Heidelberg Township Police Department at 610-670-9885.
Authorities emphasized that the case remains under investigation, that all criminal activity described is alleged, and that any suspect or person of interest is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
