SINKING SPRING, PA — Police in South Heidelberg Township are investigating a series of overnight crimes, including the theft of a Mercedes-Benz and multiple reports of vehicles being illegally entered across several neighborhoods.
According to the South Heidelberg Township Police Department, the incident began in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 14, 2025, when an unknown individual or individuals stole a 2020 silver Mercedes-Benz from the Carriage Drive area. The vehicle was recovered unoccupied at 6:42 a.m. on Timberlake Drive in Lower Heidelberg Township, roughly three hours after it had been taken.
Shortly after the vehicle’s recovery, police began receiving multiple reports from residents stating they discovered their vehicles had been entered overnight, with some reporting stolen property. In one case, a resident reported seeing a vehicle resembling the stolen Mercedes speeding away from the scene. In another, property stolen from one car was found inside another vehicle that had also been entered illegally.
In a more concerning incident, police say the suspects allegedly used a garage door opener taken from a vehicle to gain access to a residence.
The Carriage Drive area, where the Mercedes theft occurred, also saw several reports of theft from vehicles. Additional incidents were reported in Fry Manor in Heidelberg, as well as along North Church Road and East Washington Street in Wernersville.
Authorities are urging residents with exterior surveillance cameras to review their footage for suspicious activity from overnight. Anyone with information or relevant video is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Robert Heiden at 610-670-9885.
Police emphasize that any suspects identified in connection with these incidents are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
