HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA — A 25-year-old man has been charged following the discovery of a stolen handgun during a DUI checkpoint in Lower Moreland Township, authorities said.
According to the Lower Moreland Township Police Department, the checkpoint was conducted on September 20, 2024, in partnership with the Eastern Montgomery County DUI Task Force. Officers stopped a vehicle and detained its occupants after observing signs of possible drug involvement.
A search of the vehicle uncovered a 9mm Glock 43x handgun inside a gray backpack on the rear left floorboard. Police said neither the driver nor the passenger, identified as Emeuel Charleston, possessed a valid concealed carry permit in Pennsylvania. Investigators determined that the handgun had been reported stolen in Bucks County and that the backpack belonged to Charleston.
Charleston was arrested on August 20, 2025, and charged with possession of a firearm prohibited, receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
Authorities emphasized that all charges are allegations, and Charleston is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
