NEW CASTLE, DE — Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested a 25-year-old man after an attempted online sale of a stolen dirt bike led investigators to uncover a second stolen vehicle tied to the suspect.
According to police, the investigation began when detectives were alerted to a planned sale of a Honda dirt bike that had been reported stolen from Philadelphia on November 4, 2025. The Criminal Investigations Unit launched an inquiry and, through what authorities described as an extensive investigative process, identified Shawn Williams of New Castle as the individual who allegedly attempted to sell the stolen bike on an online marketplace.
On November 14, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in the unit block of Dunning Court in New Castle, where they recovered the stolen dirt bike. Williams was not at the residence at the time. He was later located at his workplace in the 4900 block of Ogletown-Stanton Road in Newark by members of the Violent Crimes Interdiction Team.
During his arrest, police say Williams was found in possession of a key fob belonging to a Chevrolet SS. Investigators located the vehicle and confirmed it had been reported stolen from Howard County, Maryland, in August 2025.
Williams was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged with two felony counts of receiving stolen property valued over $1,500 and one felony count of selling stolen property valued over $1,500. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance. Because he was already on work release, he was returned to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
Police stress that all listed offenses are allegations, and any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
