WILMINGTON, DE — Three juvenile males were taken into custody following an alleged vehicle pursuit and multi-car collision late last month, according to Wilmington police.
The Wilmington Police Department said the incident began around 8:56 p.m. on December 23, when officers assigned to the Uniformed Services Division attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Maryland Avenue and South Franklin Street for an alleged traffic violation. Police said the vehicle failed to stop and fled the area.
Authorities later located the vehicle near Lancaster Avenue and South Franklin Street, where it was involved in a collision with several other vehicles. Police said three male juveniles then fled from the vehicle on foot but were located moments later in the same area and taken into custody without incident.
Following the arrests, investigators determined that the vehicle involved in the pursuit had been reported stolen, although police said the theft had not yet been reported at the time of the incident.
A 14-year-old male juvenile was charged with alleged possession of burglar tools and resisting arrest. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $3,000 unsecured bail.
A 15-year-old male juvenile was charged with alleged resisting arrest. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
A second 14-year-old male juvenile was also charged with alleged resisting arrest. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
Police emphasized that all charges are allegations and that the juveniles involved are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
