AVONDALE, PA — Pennsylvania State Police at Avondale reported a wide range of traffic crashes and criminal investigations across southern Chester County in late January and early February, according to a series of Public Information Release Reports covering multiple municipalities.
The reports document incidents spanning East Nottingham, West Nottingham, Upper Oxford, Penn, New London, London Britain, East Marlborough, West Fallowfield, Lower Oxford, and Caln townships, involving alleged thefts, harassment cases, a reported terroristic threat, and numerous weather- and speed-related vehicle crashes.
Among the alleged criminal incidents, troopers reported that on February 6, at approximately 9:16 a.m., they were dispatched to East Nottingham Township after a victim reported the theft of bitcoin valued at approximately $116,000. The victim stated the loss was discovered earlier that day. The investigation remains ongoing.
In a separate West Nottingham Township case on February 6, troopers responded to Baltimore Pike at approximately 10:54 a.m. for a report of an attempted theft and fraud involving a victim from Kirkwood, Pennsylvania. That investigation also remains open.
State police documented multiple harassment-related incidents. On February 6 at approximately 2:40 p.m., troopers responded to a primary care facility on West Baltimore Pike in Penn Township for a reported harassment by physical contact. A 44-year-old Kennett Square man was arrested in connection with the incident involving a 42-year-old victim from Chadds Ford. A non-traffic citation was issued, and the investigation is ongoing.
Another harassment by physical contact investigation was opened February 3 at approximately 4:04 p.m. in Penn Township after troopers responded to a report of a physical altercation involving juveniles on school grounds in West Grove. No arrests were announced in that case.
On January 31 at approximately 11:49 p.m., troopers responded to Lower Oxford Township for a report of a domestic-related harassment incident involving a mother and adult son. The investigation remains ongoing.
In Pocopson Township, troopers reported that on February 3 they responded to a report of a terroristic threat connected to an alleged prior incident reported by a school district. Police said the threat was received on January 31. The matter remains under investigation.
The Avondale barracks also reported numerous traffic crashes, many attributed to winter weather, roadway conditions, or alleged driver error. On January 8 at approximately 8:16 a.m., troopers investigated a single-vehicle crash on Limestone Road in Upper Oxford Township, where a vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in an uncontrolled position. No injuries were reported.
On January 9 at approximately 8:57 a.m., troopers responded to a crash on Mount Pleasant Road in East Nottingham Township involving a vehicle that struck a tree after leaving the roadway. Police reported no injuries.
Several additional single-vehicle crashes were documented throughout the reporting period, including incidents on Phoenixville Pike in East Marlborough Township and other local roadways, where vehicles allegedly failed to maintain control, left travel lanes, or struck fixed objects. In those cases, vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene, with drivers generally reporting no injuries.
Troopers also investigated multiple two-vehicle crashes, including an incident on Chatham Road in Londonderry Township and another in East Marlborough Township. In those cases, police allege drivers failed to maintain a single lane of travel or drove at speeds unsafe for conditions. Some drivers or passengers were transported to area hospitals for evaluation of suspected minor injuries.
Across the crash investigations, troopers issued a combination of citations and written warnings alleging violations such as unsafe speed, failure to maintain lane, following too closely, and related summary offenses. Police repeatedly cited snow, ice, slick pavement, and reduced traction as contributing factors.
All charges, citations, and allegations outlined in the reports are preliminary. Any suspect, arrestee, or defendant referenced in these incidents is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
