ROYERSFORD, PA — A reported stabbing on Main Street Sunday morning led to the arrest of a Royersford man after police say a domestic dispute escalated into a physical confrontation involving a knife.
According to the Royersford Borough Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 9:29 a.m. on February 1 to the 200 block of Main Street for a report of a stabbing. Upon investigation, police allege that 33-year-old Marcus Burns became involved in a verbal altercation with the victim that turned physical.
Authorities said the confrontation intensified when the victim allegedly reached for a knife and stabbed Burns in the leg in an effort to break free. Police indicated that a Protection from Abuse order was in place at the time of the incident, prohibiting Burns from being at the residence or having any contact with the victim.
Burns was taken into custody without incident and transported to a hospital, where he was medically cleared before being lodged at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. He is being held on $12,000 bail.
Police charged Burns with simple assault, indirect criminal attempt, harassment, possession of marijuana, and disorderly conduct. All charges stem from allegations outlined in the police investigation.
The incident remains under review as the case proceeds through the court system. Burns, like all defendants, is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
