NEW CASTLE, DE — Six individuals, including one minor, have been charged with multiple offenses after an alleged assault on a Food Lion employee in New Castle on June 20, 2025, the Delaware State Police have reported.
According to investigators, troopers responded at approximately 1:31 p.m. to the store at 1200 Beaverbrook Plaza. Authorities allege that an 18-year-old store employee was attacked by a group of eight individuals while working at a register. The suspects reportedly kicked and punched the victim, leaving him unconscious. Witnesses alleged that one suspect stood by holding a baby, while another appeared to record the incident.
The suspects fled in two vehicles, identified as a dark-colored Nissan Murano and a dark-colored Ford Taurus, both bearing Delaware registration. Witnesses stated that one suspect threatened to return to harm the victim further.
The victim was transported to a hospital by EMS for serious head injuries.
Shortly after the incident, a New Castle County Police Officer observed the Nissan running a stop sign near the shopping center. During the subsequent traffic stop, four suspects were identified as being involved in the alleged assault. These individuals were taken into custody without incident. Investigation later identified two more suspects, and both were arrested on June 22, 2025, with the assistance of Probation and Parole. Two other suspects, an unidentified man and woman, remain at large.
The individuals charged are:
- Luchiano Diaz, 21, of Wilmington
- Jazzlyn Johnson, 20, of Wilmington
- Joseph Brown-Terry, 20, of Salem, NJ
- Curtis Miller, 18, of Wilmington
- Quamere Britt, 18, of New Castle
- A 16-year-old male from New Castle
All six have been charged with:
- Assault 2nd Degree (Felony)
- Riot with Intent to Commit a Felony (Felony)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
- Terroristic Threatening
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child
- Disorderly Conduct
Each of the adult suspects received cash bonds ranging from $8,550 to $17,500, while the 16-year-old is being held on a $5,600 secured bond at the New Castle County Detention Center.
