WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have apprehended a 49-year-old man in connection with an alleged shots fired incident reported in the city on May 13, 2025.
Officers from the Uniformed Services Division were dispatched to the 700 block of East 7th Street at approximately 11:05 a.m. following reports of gunfire. No injuries were recorded at the scene. Detective Thomas Rittenhouse of the Criminal Investigations Division was assigned to the case and, during the investigation, identified Jermaine Grasty as a suspect. Warrants were subsequently issued for his arrest.
On May 16, officers located Grasty in the 300 block of East 5th Street. He was taken into custody without incident, and a 9mm handgun was recovered.
Grasty is now facing several charges, including Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, two counts of Aggravated Menacing, Stalking, two counts of Terroristic Threatening, Discharging a Firearm on a City Street, and Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony.
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and is currently being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $120,000 cash-only bail.
Authorities have emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
