WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested seven individuals, including a juvenile, on multiple gun-related charges following a vehicle pursuit involving a stolen car in the city’s northwest section late Friday night.
According to authorities, the incident began around 9:50 p.m. on July 19, 2025, when officers from the Uniformed Services Division observed a stolen vehicle near West 34th and North Van Buren Streets. When police attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle reportedly fled the area, prompting a brief search.
Officers later located the vehicle abandoned in the 500 block of West 35th Street. Several individuals were seen exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot. After a short investigation, police apprehended seven males without further incident.
Those taken into custody include:
- Katavioa Taylor, 21, of Chester, PA
- Kwell Evans, 19, of Chester, PA
- Jaden Dorsey, 19, of Chester, PA
- Ronald Womack, 18, of Chester, PA
- Mekhi Turner, 20, of Chester, PA
- Rahshad Rawls, 20, of Milford, DE
- A 17-year-old male juvenile from Darby, PA
Police say they recovered two loaded AR-15-style rifles, a loaded 9mm handgun, and confirmed the recovery of the stolen vehicle.
Each of the six adult suspects was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, receiving stolen property over $1,500, and resisting arrest. All six were arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $63,000 cash-only bail.
The 17-year-old juvenile was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, receiving stolen property over $1,500, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned at the same court and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $13,000 secured bail.
As with all criminal cases, it is important to note that the individuals charged are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation remains ongoing.
