WILMINGTON, DE — Authorities have arrested seven individuals in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged illegal drug activity in Wilmington. The operation, conducted by the Wilmington Police Department’s Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division, targeted reported drug sales in the 1800 block of West 5th Street.
The investigation began in May and culminated in the execution of a search warrant on June 2 at approximately 11:16 a.m. During the operation, seven men were taken into custody without incident. Police reportedly seized 6.0 grams of crack cocaine, 0.60 grams of heroin, 98 grams of marijuana, 73 Oxycodone pills, and drug paraphernalia.
Arrests and Charges
The individuals arrested in the operation have been identified as 20-year-old Antonio Valentin, 32-year-old Andre Gershad, 23-year-old Taron Williams, 34-year-old Jamar Roane, 26-year-old Nakai Thomas, 34-year-old Devon Hargraves, and 18-year-old Zayd Granby. They are facing various charges in connection with the investigation.
- Antonio Valentin has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.
- Andre Gershad is charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver in a Tier 3 quantity. He was arraigned and released on $20,000 unsecured bail.
- Taron Williams faces one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. He was arraigned and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
- Jamar Roane has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and tampering with physical evidence. He was arraigned and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
- Nakai Thomas is charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. He was arraigned and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.
- Devon Hargraves, who had an outstanding warrant, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and tampering with physical evidence. He was arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.
- Zayd Granby faces one count of possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned and released on $200 unsecured bail.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The charges brought against the individuals remain allegations at this stage of the legal process.
