Series of Crashes, Thefts and DUI Arrest Reported

AVONDALE, PA — Pennsylvania State Police in Avondale reported multiple crashes, theft investigations and arrests across southern Chester County between January 28 and March 1.

On March 1, 2026, at approximately 1:21 p.m., troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on the Kennett Oxford Bypass west of Church Road in New Garden Township. State police said a 44-year-old West Chester man was driving a 2011 Lexus ES350 southbound when he allegedly lost control, struck a guardrail and traveled into the grassy median. Police reported the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and complained of pain to his head, neck, right arm and right leg. He was transported by EMS to Christiana Hospital.

In a separate crash on February 20, 2026, at approximately 6:00 a.m., troopers were dispatched to the Kennett Oxford Bypass north of Newark Road in New Garden Township. State police said a 25-year-old Lincoln University man was driving a 2015 Ram northbound when he allegedly failed to maintain control and struck an embankment. Police reported the vehicle later struck a 2011 Chevrolet Trax operated by a 16-year-old Nottingham resident. The 25-year-old was transported to Christiana Hospital for suspected minor injuries. State police said citations were filed for driving at a safe speed and a restraint violation.

Troopers also investigated a reported theft February 28, 2026, on Lenover Road in Highland Township involving a week-old calf valued at $1,800. State police said the investigation remains pending.

On February 28, 2026, at approximately 8:01 a.m., troopers responded to Walmart on the 500 block of School House Road in East Marlborough Township for a reported theft. State police said an 85-year-old Kennett Square man reported an iPhone 10 was taken from his shopping cart. The investigation is ongoing.

In Lower Oxford Township, troopers responded January 28, 2026, at approximately 10:28 p.m., to the 100 block of Quarryville Road for a reported natural death involving a 68-year-old Oxford woman. State police said the incident remains under investigation.

On February 23, 2026, troopers conducted a traffic stop on the 100 block of Meetinghouse Road in West Grove Borough. State police said a 38-year-old West Grove man was arrested after allegedly providing false identification to a law enforcement officer.

Troopers also responded February 13, 2026, at approximately 3:34 a.m., to the 20 block of Jason Drive in East Nottingham Township for a report of an alleged blackmail attempt involving a 23-year-old Oxford man. State police said a 52-year-old Coatesville man was arrested and the investigation remains ongoing.

In Kennett Square Borough, troopers conducted a traffic stop February 12, 2026, on the 100 block of West State Street. State police said a 20-year-old Franklinville, New Jersey, man was arrested after troopers allegedly observed signs of impairment during the stop.

All investigations remain ongoing.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
