WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have arrested a 44-year-old man following an investigation into an alleged stabbing that left a victim hospitalized earlier this month.
Authorities report that on November 10 at approximately 4:16 p.m., officers from the Special Operations Division responded to the 1300 block of Washington Street after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a 30-year-old man who had been injured. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Michael Chambers of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his inquiry, Detective Chambers identified Charles Ray as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
On November 19, police executed a search warrant in the 400 block of McCabe Avenue. Officers report that Ray was taken into custody without incident.
Ray has been charged with first-degree assault, third-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and first-degree reckless endangering. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $41,500 cash-only bail.
Police emphasize that all charges are allegations, and any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
