School Van Driver Arrested After Shocking Allegations of Sexual Abuse Emerge

NEW CASTLE, DE — A New Castle man has been arrested following an investigation into allegations of a sexual relationship with a minor.

Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were contacted on Sunday, June 1, 2025, by a 14-year-old who reported being involved in a sexual relationship with 34-year-old Joseph Caceres. Authorities state the alleged relationship occurred between November 2024 and May 2025.

Detectives identified Caceres as a van driver for Red Lion Christian Academy, where he had regular contact with the victim while providing school transportation. According to the investigation, Caceres allegedly contacted the victim by phone, visited her home, and arranged meetings in his personal vehicle and at his residence, where sexual activity reportedly took place.

On June 1, Caceres was taken into custody at his home. He has been charged with five counts of third-degree rape, each involving a victim under the age of 16. He was arraigned and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $100,000 cash bail.
