WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police officers responded to a wide range of routine calls, traffic incidents, and public safety matters throughout the borough on Tuesday, January 27, reflecting a steady but largely nonviolent day of police activity.
According to a department incident summary, officers handled multiple burglar alarm activations across Warwick Drive, Park Road North, Berkshire Boulevard, and State Hill Road during the morning and evening hours. Police determined each alarm to be either accidental, canceled by the alarm company, or related to authorized activity such as construction, and no crimes were reported in connection with those calls.
Shortly after 7:30 a.m., officers assisted Spring Township police with an injury-related crash along Route 222 near Broadcasting Road. Details of injuries, if any, were not released by Wyomissing police. Later in the morning, officers addressed a traffic complaint on Evans Avenue near Reading Boulevard, where a construction vehicle was allegedly parked too close to an intersection, obstructing visibility. The vehicle was moved, resolving the issue.
Police also responded to a 911 hang-up call from Evans Avenue around midday. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a school secretary, who advised there was no emergency.
Several traffic-related incidents were reported throughout the afternoon and evening. These included property damage after a vehicle allegedly drove over roadway debris on Route 222 near Penn Avenue, multiple traffic stops for speeding, expired registration, lighting violations, and failure to obey traffic signals on Route 222, State Hill Road, Park Road North, and 8th Avenue. In some cases, drivers were issued citations, while others received warnings.
Around 4:40 p.m., officers responded to Old Wyomissing Road for a report of a deer possibly affected by chronic wasting disease. A game commission officer was contacted to handle the situation.
Later in the evening, police investigated a minor two-vehicle crash on State Hill Road near Hobart Avenue. Officers reported minor damage and no injuries, and the drivers exchanged information. Additional calls included assistance to Shillington police for a reported possible burglary outside the borough and a disabled vehicle on Penn Avenue, where a passerby helped jump-start the car.
Police said all incidents were handled without escalation and, unless otherwise noted, were closed at the scene.
Any traffic citations or allegations referenced in police reports are allegations only. Any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
