WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police handled 13 incidents February 23, including a retail theft arrest, a domestic dispute citation and multiple traffic stops, according to the department’s daily incident listing.
The first call came shortly after midnight, when officers were dispatched at 12:25 a.m. to Route 222 for a disabled vehicle. According to police, the operator had allegedly traveled the wrong way on a ramp and became stuck in snow. A tow service was contacted to remove the vehicle.
Officers later responded to three separate burglar alarm activations on Berkshire Court, Penn Avenue and Cheltenham Drive between 8:59 a.m. and 9:41 a.m. Police stated the alarms were determined to be accidental or unfounded after checks of the properties.
At 12:24 p.m., police were dispatched to Route 222 near State Hill Road for a welfare check involving two juveniles reportedly walking on a highway ramp. According to the report, officers located the juveniles as they were exiting the ramp and advised them they are not permitted to walk on the highway.
At 1:14 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of State Hill Road for a reported retail theft. Police stated the suspect allegedly fled the scene but was later detained by Amity Township police. An arrest was made, according to the report, though no identifying details were released.
Later that afternoon, at 2:28 p.m., officers were called to the 100 block of State Hill Road for a disorderly conduct complaint. Police said a male who had allegedly been previously trespassed from the location was identified and advised not to return.
Police also responded at 3:40 p.m. to the 100 block of Reading Boulevard after borough crews reported a water service leak that could temporarily close the roadway.
At 3:42 p.m., officers took a walk-in complaint regarding alleged check fraud on the 100 block of Penn Avenue. The case remains under follow-up investigation, according to the report.
During the evening hours, officers conducted two traffic stops. At 7:27 p.m. on the 100 block of Penn Avenue at Park Road North, police stated a vehicle registration allegedly returned to a Nissan while displayed on a Honda, and a citation was issued. At 7:52 p.m. on the 100 block of 8th Avenue at Hill Avenue, a driver was warned for allegedly turning without signaling and for a registration plate lighting violation .
Police were also dispatched at 8:31 p.m. to the 100 block of Berkshire Boulevard for a 911 hang-up call. According to the report, the individual who placed the call was not located.
At 8:56 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Woodland Road for a reported domestic dispute. Police stated one male was cited for harassment. Additional details were not provided.
The incidents are documented in the department’s public blotter. No further information was immediately available.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
