AVONDALE, PA — Pennsylvania State Police in Avondale reported multiple incidents across southern Chester County in recent weeks, including several vehicle crashes, a DUI arrest, theft investigations, and a disorderly conduct incident.
Troopers reported that on March 8 they took a report of found property along Newark Road just south of Corby Road in New London Township. According to investigators, four debit cards and a New Castle County Library card bearing the name “Edward Johnson” were discovered. State police said the matter remains under investigation.
Earlier, on March 7 at approximately 10:40 a.m., troopers responded to Domino’s Pizza at 2229 Baltimore Pike in East Nottingham Township following a report of disorderly conduct. Police identified a 42-year-old man from Oxford in connection with the incident, which remains under investigation.
Troopers also responded March 3 to London Grove Township for a report of theft involving an 80-year-old victim from West Chester. According to investigators, the incident occurred on Westbourne Road and the investigation is ongoing.
State police reported a retail theft investigation at Ulta Beauty, 861 East Baltimore Pike in East Marlborough Township. Troopers said they were dispatched March 1 at approximately 11:15 a.m. regarding a theft reported to have occurred February 20. The investigation remains pending.
Troopers also reported a DUI-related arrest stemming from a traffic stop conducted February 28 at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Chesterville Road near Mill Road in Franklin Township. According to police, a 22-year-old man from Avondale was taken into custody following the stop. The investigation remains ongoing.
Police reported another DUI arrest following a crash March 1 at approximately 6:47 p.m. on Newark Road near Violet Lane in New London Township. According to investigators, a vehicle traveling southbound failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, left the roadway, struck a mailbox, and then crashed into trees. Police said the driver, a 75-year-old man from Lincoln University, was taken into custody after troopers determined he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
Several additional crashes were reported in the region.
Troopers reported a crash March 6 at approximately 5:37 p.m. on Limestone Road in Lower Oxford Township involving a Chevrolet Trailblazer and a Dodge Ram. According to investigators, the vehicles collided as one attempted to turn left into a private parking lot. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and no injuries were reported.
Police also responded March 3 at approximately 8:44 a.m. to Doe Run Road near Wilson Road in West Marlborough Township for a single-vehicle crash. According to investigators, a Ford Fusion traveling southbound left the roadway and struck a utility pole before overturning. The driver, a 23-year-old man from Coatesville, was evaluated by EMS and no injuries were reported.
Another crash was reported February 27 at approximately 12:18 a.m. on the Kennett Oxford Bypass in London Grove Township. Police said a Kia Sportage allegedly struck a Toyota C-HR from behind. One driver reported a suspected minor injury and was evaluated by EMS.
Troopers also reported a crash February 24 at approximately 9:42 a.m. on Jennersville Road near Phillips Mill Road in Londonderry Township. According to investigators, a Toyota Camry traveling eastbound lost control on snow-covered pavement and struck a snowbank. Police said the driver and a passenger reported possible injuries.
Another crash occurred February 22 at approximately 5:16 p.m. on the Kennett Oxford Bypass south of Newark Road in Upper Oxford Township. According to police, a Toyota Sienna allegedly left the roadway and struck a metal fire barrier. A passenger reported a suspected minor injury.
Troopers also reported a crash February 22 at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Limestone Road south of Edenton Road in Upper Oxford Township involving a Honda Accord and a Dodge Journey. Police said both drivers were wearing seat belts and no injuries were reported.
Police additionally responded February 20 at approximately 3:20 a.m. to a crash on U.S. 1 northbound near the Route 796 bypass in Penn Township. According to investigators, a Dodge Challenger left the roadway and struck a guardrail. Police said the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
Troopers also reported a crash February 11 at approximately 1:59 p.m. on Highland Road north of King Road in West Fallowfield Township. According to police, a Ford Edge left the roadway and struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported.
State police also reported a ChildLine investigation stemming from a report received February 13 regarding alleged inappropriate conduct involving a 5-year-old child from West Grove. According to investigators, the alleged conduct reportedly occurred in 2017 in Penn Township and the investigation remains ongoing.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
